Kingdom of Clouds (King Richard III) by Paul Barrand
Limited edition print
To mark the reinterment of King Richard III, Leicester based artist Paul Barrand (himself an unrepentant Yorkshireman) has created two dramatic, bold and striking paintings that look to capture the spirit of renewal and rejuvenation that has so invigorated both the late monarch and the city of Leicester.
By placing the statue of the King viewed from below as a single motif against atmospheric skyscape and using a rich vibrant palette to capture the spectacular light, he has enhanced the ambiguity of the figure as man or monument. The setting and composition also evoke a real sense of the reinterment as an event of global reach.
Although the original paintings were sold immediately on completion to two of Paul’s regular collectors, The Cank Street Gallery is delighted to present a strictly limited edition of giclee prints of each painting. Produced using fine quality inks on 330g Canson paper, each print is signed and numbered in an edition of 530 in respect of the number of years between Richard’s death at Bosworth Battlefiled (1485) and his final resting in Leicester Cathedral (2015).
The print is mounted in a Conservation Quality Mount.
Size is aproximately 600 mm x 680 mm
