You can plan your journey into Leicester at www.choosehowyoumove.co.uk.  Our postcode is LE1 5GW.  HOWEVER using this postcode in your sat nav in Leicester can get you very lost indeed because access to the gallery by road has changed.

Coming By Car

We are located right in the heart of Leicester City Centre just 20 minutes from the M1. Please follow signs towards the City Centre.

There are several car parks serving the centre the ones closest to us are The John Lewis Car Park, Rooftop Parking at The Highcross Shopping Centre and The Newark Street Car Park (LE1 5SN).

Access for Loading

For loading purposes the gallery can be accessed from St Nicholas Circle/Holiday Inn Roundabout (entering the postcode LE1 5LX into your Sat Nav will bring you to this Roundabout).  Then:

Take the exit into Peacock Lane after Jubilee Square and follow the road IMMEDIATELY ROUND TO THE RIGHT.  Take the first LEFT (past the new student housing buildings, just before the traffic lights) into Friar Lane.  At the crossroads turn LEFT into Grey Friars (here there are some pay and display spaces and four disabled spaces).  At the end of this street turn RIGHT at Delilah's where you will find the loading bay immediately on the RIGHT, in front of Middleton's Restaurant (the grand white old bank building) across the street from Hollys, Harriman & Co, Veenos and Gelato Village.

Please note you are permitted to wait here for loading and unloading only; disabled parking is not permitted in the loading area.  Note the loading bay is marked by stones in the road surface rather than yellow lines.

Disabled Access

We have a disabled entrance for the gallery and the nearest parking is on Grey Friars where there are four spaces reserved for the disabled and where you can park free of charge in one of the street's pay and display spaces.  A little further away, beside Wygeston's House on Applegate, there are seven wide disabled spaces.  These can be accessed from St Nicholas's Circle by turning left into Peacock Lane then immediately left onto Applegate where you will find the parking places on the left.  Applegate is a pedestrian preferred lane with two way traffic being operated on this small stretch, so do take care.

We do not have toilet facilities at the gallery but there is a disabled toilet in the Silver Arcade nearby.

On Foot or Bike

The gallery is in a semi-pedestrianised area of the city and bicycle storage points are available at the entrance to St Martin's Square with some undercover storage close by.
